A6 bad handling????

Audi A6 C6/4F
Themenstarteram 26. März 2007 um 19:30

Hallo,

I have the A6 3.0 TDI with eibach sportfahrwerk and 19", but I have some bad experience with the handling, because when I enter the curve a little faster the front end just continues straight and the rear end starts to oversteer.. is it just my audi or does someone have the same experience??because my friend has a Renault Laguna and he can do the same curve better, so is this possible that a Laguna has a better handling than the A6???? Hope to hear your opinions...

P.S sorry for english,my german spelling sucks....

A Laguna surely doesn't have a better handling than a A6. Normally ur 3.0 TDI should feel like on rails, but from a certain very extreme point, there can be little understeering followed by little oversteering, but then it should be neutral again. At this point, a Laguna should be off the street because of understeering.

A quattro is one of the best driving-opportunities, what traction concerns. So there must be another reason for you problem.

How about your tyres? Do you still have enough profile?

@ afis

You are probebly right because my tires are in pretty bad shape, but this week I will buy new Hankok S1 Evo tyres, so at that point the handling should improove, but what are the best dimensions for 19", now I have 245/35/19 but I am thinking of 255/35/19, ehat do U think???

Then the tyres are the problem ;)

What the dimensions concerns, my advise would to use not too wide tyres, but in detail, I can't help u in that point. Personally, I would never use 19''...but that's a matter of your individual taste

Try a 3.2 FSI quattro, the handling is much better.

The bad handling of the 3.0 TDI is due to the heavy engine.

lol...why should he do this if he already owns a 3.0 TDI. And by the way: it might be a relatively heavy engine, but a very good one. The 3.2 makes little more fun indeed if you really use all it has, but then it is much more expensive thus you'll need much more petrol ;)

@viril: And even you cannot claim that the 3.0 TDI quattro has such a bad handling, that it is worse than a Laguna. ;)

Nun gut, da gebe ich dir recht, aber wenn man danach geht, fährt man am besten kein A6 ;)

Genau darauf will ich hinaus: der A6 ist kein Sportwagen. :D

Offcourse that the A6 isnt a sport wagon, but you can still drive it very fast around the corners, but what Iam saying here is that if a Laguna with FWD has better (or the same) handling as the A6 Quatrro than I can feel free to say that the Audi is a peace of shi... because there is no logic in that some shitty Laguna that costs 3x less than the Audi has a chance of the same handling than the A6... I think that you can agree here....

It is not a matter of pricing but a matter of weight and physics.

And if you feel your A6 is a piece of shit, so be it. :)

Or maybe just the Eibach stuff is crap.

That a Laguna has a better handling that an A6 is just impossible except there is something, which is not alright at the A6, e. g. your tyres, or something would be broken or whatever. Otherwise, the A6 is - although it is a heavy car - quite sportive for its size.

What Eibach concerns: there products, including the undercarriages are usually very good.

meine Meinung

bis dann....

Stimmt. :D

I can´t believe that a Laguna is faster around the corners than a 4f. During the short winter period on an icy road I could experience my 3,0l quattro behave like described: first under- than oversteering. Therefore, I think not the car is a piece of sh..., it is the tyres (who the hell likes Hankook tyres of that dimension?). I would recommend other tyres (Dunlop. Michelin). They are more expensive, but show a much better performance.
