Please help us with some good advise.
In this weekend our automatic transmission went broken when we drove on the highway. First the motor went a bit up in the rotation, and shortly after there were no gear that worked anymore.
We live in Denmark, where there not has been sold many cars with automatic transmission because of high taxation. We were given a price of 5.800 EUR inclusive mounting of the renovated gearbox.
It would be great if someone in this forum knew an automatic transmission specialist, that might can make this cheaper ? Of course it is an advantage if the workshop is near the Danish border.
We hope you can give us som good advice, so we will not will be completely ruined.

Es geht um Hilfe für einen Dänen.

can you give us please the year of manufacture of yor mondeo? there were also different types of automatic transmission in the mondeo. can you give us some details e.g. 4shift or 5shift or the type of the transmission?
under http://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleRegSelector.do you can put your cars vehicle identification number (vin) in the tab "vehicle" and paste the results here (withot vin please).

Naja, ich denk immer an den/ die Hilfesuchenden und wie es mir da immer geht, wenn was defekt ist und man keine Infos (!) hat.
I google'd a little bit and found this repair shop specialised on automatic transmisson: http://www.getriebe-center.de/
It is located in 23845 Seth, slightly above Hamburg. They work on Ford Automatic Transmissions and according to the 2008 pricelist, the Ford Jatco 5 Gear can be completely revised for 1500€ + dismounting, mounting and necessary fluids. Should be far less then 5800€.
I suspect the assembly reward will be a lot more and it comes in the direction of a total of more than 5,000 €. Therefore you should also ask about the expected price including installation and other costs.
The best for you, arrange a fixed lump sum final price, then you know what it is you really cost.

Er hat keinen Antrieb mehr, das klingt nicht gut, allerdings hoffe ich nur, dass auch ATF drin ist 8-)

Ab und an neigen die Jatco5 dazu Ihre Antriebswellen zu Killen.
Die Verzahnung der Antriebswelle macht schlapp.
Dazu muss lediglich ein neues Innengelenk Verbaut werden und dann ist wieder alles schön! ;-)

Fra tid til anden for Jatco5 til dine drivaksler tendens til skader.
Tænderne af drivakslen er overstået. Dette skal kun installeres en ny indre fælles og så alt er smukt! ;-)

Short description
We drove on the highway in fifth gear, as the rpm suddenly increased. We drove into a rest area to see if it would help to turn off the car and start again. After this did none of the gears work anymore. It's a five gear transmission.
Where can I find the exact type code on the gearbox ?
Our Mondeo is from December 2004

Hvis gearkassen har 5 gear er det en Jatco5 Getrag.
De er meget robust , det bør kontrolleres drivakslerne Nogle gear demonteret tænderne på drivakslen i gearkassen.

Wenn das Getriebe 5 Gänge hat ist es ein Jatco5 von Getrag.
Die sind sehr Robust, es sollten die Antriebswellen geprüft werden
Einige Getriebe zerlegten die Verzahnung der Antriebswellen im Getriebe.

Das lässt sich einfach überprüfen.
Schaltung auf P
Auto vorne auf bocken, beide Seiten müssen frei sein.
Dann beide Räder gleichzeitig in ein die selbe Richtung, per Hand, drehen.
Kann man jetzt ein Rad drehen ist diese Seite defekt.

Dette kan kontrolleres let.
Circuit til P Car Jack op foran på begge sider skal være fri.
Så begge hjul samtidig i en samme retning , i hånden , drej.
Kan du slå et hjul nu har brudt dette site.
I will just tell you how the story ends. I bought a used gearbox (144000 km ) at a gearbox dealer and a local mechanic who had worked with Ford cars for 25 years replaced it. The price was half of the first offer where the gearbox was a renovated gearbox. Thank you to all who have written to me in this forum. / Hans
