New Car (V177) - Doubts!

Mercedes A-Klasse V177

Hi to all, first of all I would like to say sorry for writing in english but unfortunately I do not speak German but this is the best forum I found regarding the W177/V177. I have bought mine this month and I'm loving it so far however I have some doubts that I would appreciate if you could help me.

1. My car does not come with Android Auto so I use bluetooth to stream music however covers do not show up. For what I researched usually iPhones does not have this problem but Androids yes. Anyone with Android managed to get this working? I already tried putting AVRCP 1.6 but no luck.

2. I saw some photos of MBUX with "Online Music" and my car doesn't have it. What is it for and how do I get it?

3. I have a samsung and when I hold the voice command on the steering wheel my phone opens Bixby. Is it possible to change to Google Assistant?

4. I'm trying to update the maps on my computer with "Mercedes Download Manager" and I tried with two different USB sticks but I always get "media storage not found" so I can update it. Anyone had this issue?

Thank you all for your help.

4) you may try formatting the usb stick with ntfs first, if it's not working try fat32. All data will be deleted in both cases.

3) is google assistant set up as your standard voice command app on your phone?

2: therefore you need a data package from the Daimler supported Provider in your country. In Germany we have to use Vodafone :(. Additional we need in Germany an account by Tidal or Amazon Music. Your can´t use your mobile phone as a hotspot.

3: Google Assistant needs to be your default voice assistant, it´s a setting in your mobile phone.

4: NTFS and exfat are supported file systems.

Es gibt auch MBUX ohne Sim dann geht der Hotspot.

In english you should be able to get the wifi from your mobile phone hotspot.

I have an iphone and over bt i see my covers from spotify.

@stieeevee aber nur mit FUP3 ;) davor geht da nix. Und er hat auch kein iPhone.

3. Yes, google assistant is my default assistant. Anyone has tried this in your car?

4. Already tried ntfs, exfat and fat32... no luck!

I'm on FUP2.

It’s normal that you can’t see the covers with FUP2 while you‘re using Bluetooth. You must get an update to FUP3 at your service partner.

I´m not using this Assistant, so no further help from me, sorry.

Some Mac users had problems as well with updating by USB device. Which size has your USB device? For updating Europe you need a 64GB device, 32GB gives not enough space.

That's right. -i was using a 32gb stick. I'll try another one and let you know.Thanks !!

With regards to problem #3 make sure that the following is enabled:

1. Go to Settings.

2. Go to Google > Search, Assistant & Voice > Voice.

3. Tap Voice

4. Enable Allow Bluetooth requests with device locked.

I could imagine that the phone automatically switches to Bixby, if this not enabled (but that's just an educated guess).

The Google Assistant via Bluetooth worked flawlessly on my S7 (but then, there is no Bixby on that one), but I have to admit that I haven't tried it in combination with my new S20 (for music purposes I use a cheapo eBay 32 GB iPhone SE in wired Carplay mode as a glorified iPod with Spotify in offline mode, syncing every other week; not to save data, but because I prefer Spotify via Carplay in terms of the information displayed (i.e. album name), plus it solves the cover art problem).

Why not using your S20 through Android Auto instead of using a separate iPhone? It also displays the cover art etc

Meanwhile thank you all for your help, I managed to get google assistant working and updated the maps as well!

Two reasons:

1. Spotify via Android Auto doesn't show album names (I belong to a dying part of the population that listens mostly to complete albums and I have a huge "rolling" playlist specifically for my car where I just add what I'm interested in and delete what I've heard. So when an album comes up I probably added it 6 months ago and forgot the name).

2. I'm too lazy to constantly plug in and out ;). So the Samsung can stay in my briefcase connected via Bluetooth for telephone calls.

I have updated my MBUX to FUP3 and still no luck with the covers over bluetooth. Can someone with Android post a screenshot of the bluetooth settings on the Developer Mode?

Thanks!
