Problem fitting winddeflector

Mercedes CLK 208 Cabrio

Hi!
Sorry for writing in english, but i thought who better to ask then the good people who built this fine automobile.
I have a CLK 320 -00. I cant seem to get the original winddeflector to latch in the two holes (one on each side of the car). It should just click in from what i have seen.
It will go down just fine but wont lock in to place no mater what i do.
Anyone else that have had the same problem?
Kind regards,
Felix from Sweden

Well,
we did not build it personally, but
...we like to drive it...
Zitat Hennaman:

Translation:
"You don't have to remove the side panel. If you look at the top of the wind deflector mount, it's best to use a flashlight. Then you'll see that the lock is shaped like an "U." The side that won't engage will still be locked. It happens sometimes, but it's nothing tragic. Use a screwdriver to insert it into this elongated opening and try to put the "U" back upright. Currently, it's a horizontal "U"; the opening of the "U" faces the direction of travel. If you look at the lock and the pins on the wind deflector, you'll figure it out automatically".

best of luck, mike. :)

Hehe i can understand why, its a nice car! Many thanks for your answer, i can see where the problem is.
I will try and get the ”u” back on both sides and then hopefully it will lock (somehow both of them seem to have been stuck in the locked postion after the previous owner removed the deflector).
Now none of the sides will lock so im not convinced it will stay it place.
Kind regards,
Felix

"so im not convinced it will stay it place".
So you can try out worktron's (he's one of my mates...) "salvation" approach.

Translation:
"But you're forgetting that this error actually only occurs when the plastic tab protecting the lock is broken. Only then is it possible to activate the lock without the pin in the wind deflector's recess being in the correct position, and to pull it out without unlocking it.
This piece of plastic is usually still somewhere down there and blocks the locking mechanism from springing back.
After the repair, when inserting the wind deflector, you should make sure that the pin always rests at the back (toward the trunk) when inserting it into the mount. Otherwise, you might activate the lock again without the pin engaging".

This is also (like the first attempt) taken from the same link below:

...have phun, mike. :)

Thanks again! I gave it a try this evening but both sides are dead stuck in the locked position, i tried taking a picture of it but quite tricky.
There is a little tab on the opposite side of the screwdriver (you push it towards the interior side of the car) that i can push in - i tried this and simultaneously tried and push the locking mechanism but nothing works.
On another note im very impressed with the fuelconsumption, 0,96L per 10km measured over the full tank. My other Mercedes is at the workshop but im enjoying driving this despite that the summer hasent really arrived in Sweden yet.
Nice evening!

Now it’s working! The problem was that the mechanism was “sticking” probably since the deflector haven't been used in a long time.
We lubed it up with some spray and then pushed the deflector down really aggressively a couple of times on each side then it all of a sudden stuck.
Very good.

;) :p :D

Moin,
